I believe that most car owners are not unfamiliar with ignition coils. As the core component of the car, the ignition coil controls the performance of the car. So, how should the car ignition coil be maintained? Maintaining good insulation performance of the ignition coil is the main content of its use and maintenance. Then we will introduce to you in detail how often the ignition coil of the car is replaced and the main maintenance content of the ignition coil.
1. The connection between the ignition coil high voltage lead screw and the high voltage wire should be firm and reliable. If the connection is loose, it is prone to discharge and flashover, causing the connection part to burn.
2. In some magneto ignition systems, the ignition coil and the rotating flywheel magnet still maintain a specified gap (air gap), otherwise, it will affect the ignition performance or cause a mechanical accident .
3. One end of the secondary winding of the ignition coil is connected to the spark plug via a high-voltage wire and spark plug cap. During use, the high-voltage wire and spark plug cap should be prevented from loosening.
Replacement of ignition coil
The replacement ignition coil must be the same basic model as the original, and the resistance of the original primary winding is the same. Using different types of ignition coils may damage other ignition components or cause the new ignition coil to malfunction. If an engine has repeated ignition coil failures due to the replacement of the ignition coil, the ignition coil is difficult to work, the root cause is usually high secondary winding resistance or in some cases, a lean fuel condition. To avoid the ignition coil problem is to clean the connector and terminal when a new ignition coil is installed. Corrosion can increase the resistance of the circuit, cause intermittent work and loss of continuity of work, and may contribute to the damage of electronic components. Applying non-conductive grease to the line connections can help prevent corrosion and ensure a good connection. On high mileage engines with or without a distributor ignition system, the spark plug wire should also be replaced with a broken ignition coil to ensure high-energy sparks.
